It shows how “regional identity” can be understood and how the software-supported text analysis with GABEK® researched the regional identity of the Zillertal.
The “identity” of a population group is not directly observable. However, it can be indirectly inferred from narratives, strikingly used terms, fixed beliefs, evaluation systems and dispositions of action that are often expressed in conversations.
In the presentation, the individual evaluation steps of the GABEK® process are explained. It shows how survey results are networked, how opinion maps are used to develop a mission statement, how the relevance of goals and measures is determined and how they are used to implement results.
In the Zillertal, Martina Keiler’s GABEK project report was transformed into a play that had to be performed 19 times, each with 300 spectators. This led to a wide-ranging reflection and new visions of the future of the Zillertal.
